What if you found yourself in a world of superheroes and villains?
A world where anything from the comics took form and had substance?
Now, imagine yourself in that world but with a different attitude and detesting those same heroes. That is the case of one teenage Glen Matterson, a self proclaimed hipster who finds heroes and villains cliché, annoying. That all changes one day when Glen finds himself blessed, or cursed, with the meta gene gifting him extraordinary abilities. Will Glen implode in a ball of teenage self loathing or step up to the path fate has laid out for him?
Welcome to Arclight.

This is another exciting character from the New Legends: The Hero, The Anti-Hero, The Vigilante anthology. He was created by Karl Joseph and I have had the pleasure of creating the character's design. I went through somewhere around 9 or 10 design changes in order to come up with the image that I am sharing on here.
The goal of this design was to merge the main character's detachment from superheroes, with his reluctant acceptance, and eventual submission to training in a semi-militaristic structured environment in order to master his new abilities.
- I accomplished this by immediately dropping the mask, making it his subtle rebellion against the other heroes who prided themselves on it.
- For the military/sci-fi feel, I dug into the Star Trek archives to pull some influence into his outfit. I wanted to pull it away from the feel of a costume and offer a bit more of the 'uniform' flavor.
- To keep from totally straying away from superheroes, I created and added the electric 'A' logo on the chest and threw in the high dual belt, designed so that he can still bend in the center as well as to the side if need be.
- I dropped the classic gloves to allow a balance of flesh showing, as well as to add an emphasis to his powers, in case he ever wanted to use them to conduct through metal or water, or to create an effect from being grounded.
While this is a cool design, it might not be the final one. With that said... it's still fun to share it.
Enjoy!!
