Taking it to the EXTREMES: Vigilantes
Is this the natural evolution of RLSHs?
One thing this introduces, is the ‘cornerstone’ difference between the Hero, the Anti-Hero, and the Vigilante.
The atrocities from the Mexican Cartel gangs, wars, and culture are well known. The citizens are tired. People are desperate for heroes and yet there are no knights on horseback appearing in the horizon.
The darkness has bred a different and yet age-old type of hero… one that lives with all of the three basic entities dwelling within them. They started with the heart and intentions of what a hero was supposed to be, their environment pushed them into the actions and choices of that of an anti-hero, and their fate is constantly tugging them towards the depths of the vigilante.
This is a game in which victory is, at the most, gray and muddy.
What is it to be a RLSH in Mexico?
What is it when feeing the poor and homeless is not enough?
What is it when making a statement of ‘Right’ delivers death threats and violence to you and your family?
What is it when hope through law and law enforcement, alike, are questionable?
What is it when faith is not enough?
Are these individuals recognized by the RLSH community or ignored? Are they aided and supported or is distance and ignorance the best way to address them?
Is this a case in which the RLSH community view these masked individuals as criminals, weak, less-than, or wrong… because they are willing to wear a mask, carry a weapon, and use it?
Is this a time when cultures rival the costumes?
Is this a time in which serious discussion is needed so that the young ‘wannabee’ RLSHs will understand?
Just a food for thought.
