Yup....thats what I said. "Camping!"
Winter has finally arrived and its finally cold...and I am going to go and live in a fabric shelter while the temperature drops to about 36 degrees. I live in Florida...so thats kind of a big deal for us.
There is something appealing to stripping down to the bare basics of living. While you are camping you are rather forced to "unplug". There isnt wi-fi in the woods. ;D
It is such an amazing experience.
You have solitude, although you are with a group. You interact and bond in a way that you never do otherwise with those close to you. The slower pace and chance for introspection, the perfectly good excuse for sitting still and not moving, simply because you are mesmerized by the dancing flames of the campfire.
The children play in the ways of yesteryear, where the games are fueled by their imagination, where running and screaming and laughing at the top of their voices is not only accepted but encouraged and smiled upon.
And at the end of the day everyone gathers around the fire in the twilight and enjoys the simple harmony of being together. There is usually no arguments, only reminiscing, smiles and laughter as everyone watches the velvety darkness deepen and the stars appear in all of their brilliance. When its cold, the kids laugh anew at being able to see their breath on the crisp, cold air.
And your morning coffee never tasted so good as it does on a cold, clear morning with the sun blazing up over the horizon into your eyes, forcing you to squint.
Oh yeah....this is going to be GREAT!
