RLSH - Zombies in Florida

THIS is intriguing, gross, crazy, and scary!!! A naked man killed while eating the face off of another man!!!

Things don't get crazier than that down here in nutcase Florida!

Now before I mention a horror-movie - Sci-fi answer for this situation... I will dare to keep my mind on Earth and in reality with this situation.

For me, it is as shocking as it is thought-invoking as to all of the stuff coming out from this event. A homeless man gets his face eaten off and NOW the police are warning the public about this 'mysterious' new form of LSD that increases the body's temperature making the user strip while giving them near 'superhuman' strength and a resistence to pain.

Uhm... has anybody asked where was this stuff made? Why was it made? Where did it come from? Who is responsible? How long has it been on the street? How will this affect crime? How long does it last? How much does it take to turn you into a ZOMBIE?!?

Now, on our side of the equation... are there any RLSHs down in Miami that might have a deeper or street-level insight into this new form of madness?

Something as jarring as this needs to be investigated or at least followed. Is this crap infectious? How long does it take to wear off? Is there a drug to counter-act it?

Questions: Do RLSHs investigate events? Is there an information network set up amongst the group to share knowledge, wisdom, advice, and discoveries with one another?

This is one of those situations in which the public has questionable belief in the information (propaganda) being distributed by those in charge and would like to hear from some of those that are on the ground making it happen.

Why the homeless?
Why didn't the other cases make any headlines?
Why no public warning?

Real Life Superheroes are needed for this new challenge!

How would a RLSH approach a situation such as this?

Nutcase Florida? Why I'll have you know that most Floridians are as stable and sane as I am! One look at me should tell you the whole story!!....Um...Your honor I would like that last statement stricken from the record.

Lol. Sorry I couldn't resist. Yes I am already on top of it. Anytime it effects the homeless my attennas go up. I am hoping of course that this is an isolated incident. My only regret is that I wasn't on hand to stop the abuse of the poor homeless man. On the other hand I found it very encouraging that passerby's saw what was happening and intervened. One man shouted at him to stop and another lady went for a policeman. If this had happened in St. Petersburg I have no doubts that the homeless man would have been reduced to a pile of bones before anyone bothered to stop it, including our illustrious police force. They would have been far more distressed by the nudity than the attacks on the homeless.

I saw the tag line for this story yesterday. I thought I was reading it wrong so I clicked the link. By the time I finished reading it I wanted to vomit.

At the time I read it they did not know drugs were involved. I am actually glad it was drugs...I was VERY concerned that someone was actually that sick and twisted that they would attack someone in that fashion DELIBERATELY!

The entire thing makes me quite anxious. This world is becoming stranger and stranger.....

Well don't forget that the current popularity of TV shows like "The Walking Dead" are bound to have an effect on the mentally ill especially if drugs are involved. When I heard this story I concluded that most likely this was a "zombie wannabe" much like the "vampire" cult and vampire attacks that arose during the Twilight movie craze. There was a female who attacked a man seeking to drink his blood who was arrested, also in Florida.

Why always Florida? I call it the continental shelf theory. All the loose nuts roll down hill.

Yessir there is nothing more disturbing than someone who patterns his life after a character from pop culture....Um, could we strike that last sentence from the record too?

Believe it or not, this one actually has my eye-brow raised because it can lead into any direction. It leaves me honestly asking for the truth. This doesn't make sense.

I'm not even sure that I would believe a non-chalant answer, either. Drugs?

The last time we had something that was this powerul on the street was with PCP in the old days. I mean... c'mon... we know that people still use it, but the popularity of it is almost nil.

For THIS to happen out of the blue... I don't know. Consider me a conspiracy nut for this situation, but I wish that someone would give us something believable.

Quite possibly....but to me it was the first semi-logical idea that my psyche could accept as remotely plausible as to a reason for the behavior....

Ok here is what I've learned so far. The victim's name is Ronald Poppo and his attacker was a man named Rudy Eugene.

The police are only speculating that Mr. Eugene was on drugs, there is no evidence other than his bizarre behavior.

However they are most likely correct. Mr. Eugene is most likely the victim of the new designer drug known as "bath salts".

"Ivory Wave", "Purple wave", Vanillla Sky", and "Bliss" are but a few of the street names of this new designer drug which surfaced only last year.

The DEA has made illegal the selling and possession of the 3 main chemicals commonly used to make bath salts.

The synthetic stimulants mephedrone, MPDV and methylone specifically. The ban, issued on Oct 2011 is good for one year while they determine whether to make it a permanent ban, which I think will most likely happen.

Symptoms include agitation, hallucinations, chest pain and suicidality.

Here is the biggest problem. There is currently no test that will pick up this drug in your system. The only way to know if someone has taken it is if they tell you they have and of course the late Mr. Eugene is not talking.

It is unknown if this drug is addictive yet. It's simply too new. One can snort it, shoot it up or simply add it to food and drink.

It's only one in a long line of substances that are called designer drugs because they are made at home by back yard chemists who keep experimenting at home to create new illicit drugs. The popularity of them is because they cannot yet be detected in a person's system.

That's about all the info I have collected so far. As far as the zombie attack goes I still believe this to be an isolated incident so far but of course there will be copy cats to come.

The only one I am aware of is a rlsh named Dragonheart who is a bilingual rlsh who operates in Miami. Telemundo did a piece on him.

I've never met nor spoken with him nor would I know how to contact him. He's never come to the rlsh.org site that I am aware of.

Once again I am pretty certain this is one of those strange but true isolated incidents.

Pop culture has always had a negative effect on our victims of the drug culture.

Even way back in the early 50's when The Adventures of Superman with George Reeves was popular we saw a few incidents of drug addicts tying a make shift cape around his neck and leaping off tall buildings.

I already mention the popularity of vampires in fiction led to not only a cult of people living out a vampire fantasy but several murders which occurred by those whose drug soaked brains made them believe they were vampires.

In London the book "Werewolf" was written about a true case of man who believed he was possessed by the spirit of a wolf and attacked a policeman during the full moon. It took 12 officers to finally subdue the growling, snarling man.

Now thanks to multiple Zombie movies and the popular TV series The Walking Dead we have a man who behaves like he is a zombie. Should we really be surprised by this?

And it is inescapable but the entire real life superhero movement is based on superhero comics and movies and has grown recently thanks primarily to the popularity of superhero films like Kick Ass, The Watchmen and all the Marvel and DC heroes that have graced our silver screen.

The sad fact is that almost anything can happen to a man inside his own mind.

Just to bring something to the forefront...

Here we go again with something dark and horrific... and yet they are relating it to the Miami event. I am definitely interested and seeking your help to understand this, Knight-Hood.

On the surface, I would normally write this off as another psycho doing another psycho thing, but now I am sitting with one eye open watching the news and NOT believing everything they're telling me.

Yea - yea... I know, DON'T believe everything you hear on the news, but I must admit, that I tend to believe many things they write and say because its pushed down our throats. Sorry.

This guy kills his roommate and eats his heart and brain.

I think that it may NOT be related only because he didn't strip or eat unfocused, but now... that raises the question of, 'Am I getting the truth and all of the information?'

I have no idea.

Is there something going on in the 'UNDERGROUND' and is this all related? What are we supposed to believe?

Are there in RLSHs on the ground in this area that can confirm the info we get? Do they have any info on whats going on in the streets?

What if there is something going on, how would we ever know?

This is one of the few times that I WISHED the RLSHs had a communication network and alliances to help one another. How is the 'Balt/Bath Salt' getting to the streets (if this is, in fact, what's causing this)?

Are there more incidents unreported?

Is there a way to reach out to RLSHs in various areas to get them aware and on watch?

This is REALLY strange.

"Am I getting the truth and all of the information?" The truth, of course. You can't make this stuff up it's so bizarre. All of the information? Of course not. The police always withhold details in murder cases and release only need to know info.

Is there a connection between the two cases? Yes. Both happened within the past week. Both cases involved cannabalism. Both cases involved clearly disturbed sociopaths with no regard for human life. Both occurred in the United States.

Were drugs involved in either case? Not that we can prove. It's just the police trying to provide a sensible explanation for senseless acts of violence.

Is the world going to Hell in a handbasket? Are we witnessing the decline of human civilization? Or is the truth simply that all of recorded history is filled with horrific acts of man's inhumanity against his fellow man.

One need only open a history book to read of the Roman's feeding Christians to the lions for entertainment. Or of Vlad the Impaler who spiked thousands of his own people alive. Or of the murders of Jack the Ripper who strung bloody body parts of one of his victims all over the room they were in. In our own time the murders orchestrated by Charle's Manson's followers cutting out Sharon Tate's baby, Jeffrey Damher keeping heads in his refrigerator, well the list just goes on doesn't it?

Is there a connection to it all? Yes there is. It's called lack of love. Every problem in the world today and yesterday goes back to that one simple thing.

Every divine teacher be it Krishna or Buddha or Jesus taught us the very same teaching.

The Buddha said, "Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only love is the eternal rule."
Jesus said "God is love and those who live in love, live in God and God in them."

If we all truly loved each other the way the master's wished us to, then all the problems of the world would vanish overnight.

If we truly loved one another...
There would be no wars, for you would not bomb or shoot someone you loved.
There would be no crime, for you would not rob, rape or murder someone you loved.
There would be no homelessness, for you would not let someone you loved live in the streets.
There would be no hunger, for you would not let someone you loved starve to death.

Our spirits need love like a plant needs sunshine. Deprived of it, our spirits begin to whither and we grow ill, mentally, spiritually ill.

So many children grow up unloved these days and the results of it are the Charles Manson's, Jeffrery Damher's or Jack the Ripper's of the world.

This has always been true and it remains true even today. The proof is in the headlines. We can try and blame it on drugs, or the desensitizing of children toward violence through slasher films or violent video games, but it really all comes down to us closing our hearts toward one another.

Acts like these are news, but really nothing new. The bath salts are not the cause but only the symptom. Before that it was meth, before that crack, before that ecstacy, cocaine, heroin, pcp, lsd,...how far back shall we go? Laudinum?

RLSH's are not the answer, nor do we have all the answers. We are a force against evil but not the answer to evil. That must come from within. Society itself must change before acts like this will only be a memory.

"This is really strange" It's sickening, true, but unusual? Sadly no. "Are there more cases unreported?" Doubtful. The more disgusting a murder case the more the press loves to sell it. If there were I have full confidence in the press's ability to seek out the most sensational, outrageous and disturbing news stories they can find to sell their papers or get higher ratings.

Will there be still more cannabalistic killings in the near future? Yes. As long as there is evil in the world and worse one than these yet to come, I have no doubts.

Knighthood is correct about love. Love is the key that is lacking in these days that we live in. But it was foretold that things would be this way. I fear Knighthood is also quite correct in saying we will see more and more of things like these.

Uhm... Just when I started to feel confident the world flipped upside-down on me.

I am happy to get an official stance and statement from the CDC and our government stating that there is nothing to worry about with a 'Zombie Apocalypse' and that there is no current virus on file that can cause these actions or reanimate the dead.

It's one of those surreal - I'm glad its not true - funny kinda feelings that makes one chuckle inside for even considering something SO crazy...

My wife heard today that the girlfriend of the Florida cannabal stated that he was under a "voodoo curse".

You might be surprised by this but I believe in demons and demonic possession. I stated privately to someone here that he certainly behaved like someone possessed. Increased strength, rabid animalistic growling, and had to be shot multiple times to get him to finally stop.

Of course those are only my personal beliefs and no one is obliged to believe as I do.

You asked if there was a link between these cases and I know you meant a human one like back in the 60's when the CIA injected LSD into prisoners and others just to experiement on them.

I don't believe it is anything like that, but the connection I was referring to was spiritual. I do believe evil has a consciousness and headlines like this only shore up that belief.

Just out of curiosity I Googled "Recent cannibalistic murders" and found 2 more.

April 13, 2012 "Police in Brazil say 3 people were arrested on suspicion of murdering at least 2 women have confessed to acts of cannibalism...The accused a man and 2 women allegedly said they belonged to a sect. Police said the suspects claimed "a voice" told them to do it.

June 6, 2012; Crossbow cannibal jailed for the "wicked and monstrous" prostitute murders in Bradford...

Just thought you might find that interesting. Ever notice the voices never tell them to do anything nice?

Unfortunately cases of cannibalism are nothing new. I am, by training, a social scientist and in historical research references pop up here and there. I think that the media likes to follow fads and, as Knight Hood has pointed out, and zombies are big in pop culture right now.

Whoa! DC's Guardian retired? Too bad. He had the coolest real life superhero costume of all of us, outside Phoenix Jones. I wonder if his replacement wears it?

One by one I'm seeing a lot of rlsh's retire. Makes you wonder how seriously they took the cause in the first place?

Eventually all of those who jumped on the rlsh bandwagon fad will slip away I think and leave only the core group to whom this is more than just a hobby but a lifestyle of choice.

God knows I've tried to retire enough times. The first time was in 93 when I remarried. That lasted about 3 months before I found myself right back at it. I nwas 36 then. I pushed the planned retirement up to 40, then 45, then 50, then 55 and here I am at 57 and still at it.

I guess the ugly truth is I can't retire. Being Knight-Hood is more than just a side-line, it's who I really am. How does one give up being oneself?

I suppose I will do this as long as my health holds out.

Ok sorry for rambling off topic. To being us back to the subject I read a recent strange but true tale of a child who was pronounced dead in Brazil, I think. He sat up in his coffin at his funeral and asked for a drink of water. He then slipped back into unconsciousness and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a second time.

Not exactly a real life zombie but a strange case of the dead returning to life, for real.
