Okay, I’m steamed and I have to share.
For my latest project I’ve been organizing a school “carnival” for the kids in my town k-8 school. Almost two months ago my wife and I ordered the prizes on-line. After a few weeks, I asked Mrs. Delta to check her account to see when we could expect them because I wanted to get everything in order. She checked with the shipping company, came back and told me that they had been delivered a couple weeks before. The note said it was dropped off at our side door. FYI – We don’t have a side door.
She went through the company we ordered from and the shipper. The plan was that shipper would send us a replacement order and the shipping company would investigate. We would be charged for the new order and would be refunded the charge once the shipping co. declared it lost. If the original order was found we could just ship one of the boxes back.
A few days ago my gumshoe bride found out which of our neighbor’s houses it had been delivered to, contacted the party that had them and was assured the box was fine and would be returned.
I’m sure at this point you are asking the same questions I was. “Well why didn’t she return it as soon as she saw the label with someone else’s name on it?” and all the variants.
Last night the box was silently left on our porch. It had been opened, REEKED of cigarette smoke, packages inside were opened and almost half of the contents were missing. (Oh and she left some of her mail in the box.) I called up and left a message saying that if I didn’t hear back quickly I was involving the police.
I had a nice conversation with the non-emergency dispatcher last night but so far no response from the police. Now I may get stuck paying for stuff I can never give any kids.
Thanks for reading.
