Okay – Okay, I know this is a late one, but I figured it would only be right if I did something for it since I’m a superhero guy.
Thor was SWEET!!
The best way to sum the movie up is to say, ‘a quick jab to the right side of your face!’
It had all the ingredients of an epic but lacked the time or depth of one. Thor was pretty much true to his character, which should be saluted when dealing with the ‘Comics-to-Movies’ phenomenon going on now.
He was an arrogant little prick who talked back to his Daddy and got his butt handed to him. It left his butt whining like a little girl while sitting amongst mortals pouting. Hannibal Lecter played Odin… oops, was I supposed to say another name?? I don’t think ANYONE could have played that role better or spanked a bad-ass god-child any worst! He's lucky, Hannibal didn't eat him!! Gobble-Gobble!!
Loki played Loki… and DON’T tell me that he has another name!!! He was sly, slick, shrewd, and vewy-vewy ‘LOKILY’!! This guy was PERFECT!
Basically Thor kicked butt in the beginning, went to Earth cried like a baby, got his hammer back and kicked butt again… could you really ask for more???
Concept Creation: 8.5 (they did a great job adding relevance to the concept of super-being being called Gods)
Worldbuilding: 7 (Asgard was EXCELLENT and Earth was… well.. Earth. The reason this takes a hit is that EVERYTHING happened in a weekend!!)
Character Creation: 6.5 (Everyone other than Thor, Odin, and Loki were forgettable.)
Presentation: 7 (Everything in this movie screamed EPIC!! The components that hurt it was the brevity of the adventure, which was a TRUE opportunity loss and the lack of exploration into the full power of Mjornir, his hammer, as well as the Destroyer sent to Earth to battle him. This thing can wipe out civilizations for fun and he beat it in one fell swoop!)
Overall, THOR is more than worth going to see, but don’t expect any drama awards or anything! It earns a whopping...
